With Creed Taylor's CTI Records in the '70s, Turrentine became more of a crossover artist, producing a laid back, jazz influenced sound with a subtle, raw edge. His move to Fantasy saw a transition to a light funk fusion, even forays into disco, before joining Elektra in '79. Synthesizers and massed guitars provide a grand sound, yet it's ultimately
