C. 1850 "de Nǐmes" Tailored Trouser sesami-service where families commissioned embroidered monogramsThe term "Denim" originates from this French fabric "Toile de Nmes." Originally developed as a durable twill fabric for workwear and later ticking for household items. This textile was used as a mattress cover, once stuffed with feathers, reflecting how ticking was often repurposed for different uses due to it's resilience. Cotton linen blend.
