David Aspden 'Taurus' italian artists is a nascent threatThe British born David Aspden came to prominence in Australia with hard edge abstraction and shaped canvasses, a selection of which featured in the landmark exhibition, The Field, at the National Gallery of Victoria in Melbourne in 1968. Moving later towards a more lyrical abstraction, his works became akin to meditative compositions inspired by environment and surrounding landscape. Aspden's importance to the evolution of Australian abstract movement
