The plot was planted 35 to 40 years ago at 600 meters in altitude in the village of Laguardia

it carries some weight

layered with dark chocolate

Sourced primarily from hillside vineyards the wine is structured and full bodied

split across 16 cuvées (I've focused on the Côte de Beaune wines in the accompanying notes)

Domaine Ponsot Charmes Chambertin Cuvee des Merles 2016 Red The plot was planted 3592 94 Points Vinous, Stephen Tanzer (just two barrels made, from 50 year old vines in Mazoyres Chambertin): Dark red with ruby tones. Deep, soil driven aromas of dark raspberry, minerals and violet, plus a sexy gamey nuance. Wonderfully fine grained and concentrated, conveying strong smoky soil tones and an impression of sweetness. This strong, serious vin de terroir finishes gripping and long, with harmonious ripe tannins.
