He lives and creates in rural Northeastern Oklahoma. Leach's education includes a B. A. in Art Education from Northeastern State University in Tahlequah Oklahoma, where he received a full scholarship, choosing to pursue his passion for creating art. While attending NSU, Jimmy won their annual Art Department portfolio competition the last three years he
